Hello Mama,
I am an inspirational life coach, motivational speaker, retreat leader, yoga and meditation teacher, wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. My goal is to assist you in uncovering the well of peace and joy that resides within you.
Here’s a little snapshot of what led me to create Mindful Mama Living…
I began building my mindfulness toolbox twenty years ago when yoga first found me (and not a moment too soon!). Yoga gave me the skills I so desperately needed to calm my neurosis and start showing up for myself with more grace and love. In those days, I had a long-standing disposition toward anxiety, and I was constantly searching, which led me through dozens of jobs and a multitude of training programs. I taught businesses about their phone systems. I ran the membership department at the YMCA. I worked in so many restaurants. I even answered phones and wrote thank you letters for the University of Washington. It was such a blessed relief to find yoga. My passion for practicing yoga quickly led to teaching. I taught A LOT of yoga for a long time (classes/workshops/retreats) and gained a plethora of invaluable tools, but still, I struggled to free myself of overwhelm.
A little later, the magic of motherhood blessed me.
In every way, I was blown away by the gift of our daughter. However, her birth collided with some health challenges along with a husband who travels for a living. Sometimes, I was positive and grounded. Other times, I was hanging by a thread. It all felt so darn tricky, as motherhood does, with all our unique circumstances.
Fast-forward a few years to the birth of our second daughter. I was utterly delighted (and oh-so-grateful), but let me tell you, Mama, overwhelm nestled nice and deep inside me. There was so much about my beautiful life I was missing. I was borderline obsessed with trying to figure out this motherhood thing and do it the best I possibly could. The options, the choices, the questions were boggling. How do I get them to nap well and sleep through the night? How do I get them to eat a super balanced, healthy diet? How do I give my oldest the attention she needs when my youngest wants me constantly? How do I help their development and assist them in taking in this exciting world? And, how do I do all of this without breaking their spirit or destroying my own?
In the midst of this frenzied time trying to get it all right, my little ones helped me realize that my top priority was showing up for them (and in turn myself) each day with love, kindness, and calm. I intuitively understood that if my precious energy started there, everything else would fall into its proper place. Through this process, I realized that part of my work in this life is to support mamas like me, so we can all thrive together. I am always searching and would love to share with you what I’ve found.
My quest for internal freedom and desire to help mamas led me to life coach training (hallelujah!!!). There I found answers and purpose as a life coach.
And just like that, my two passions, yoga/meditation and coaching, merged and Mindful Mama Living was born!
More recently, I have become a Certified Positive Discipline Trainer. It is such a rich philosophy, and I am excited to be able to share it.
I am so glad that your journey has brought you here. I am so glad that our paths have brought us together.
“Leisha has a presence that is warm and calming. She listens with compassion and her insights are helpful and thoughtful. The deep work that she does for herself makes her relatable and non-judgemental and someone that I feel very comfortable opening up to. I would not hesitate to recommend Leisha as a coach to any mom who is wanting to feel more grounded and connected, learn techniques to help avoid that feeling of overwhelm and chaos that so often comes with parenting, and create for themselves a renewed sense of purpose and direction with love and intention.”
